Built by and for pilots: AerometricX launches purpose-built psychometric test battery for pilot recruitment
Developed specifically for pilots and backed by psychometric science from the University of Cambridge’s Psycometric Centre, AerometricX supports airlines and training organisations in meeting the requirements of EASA CAT.GEN.MPA.175(b).
AerometricX, a new psychometric assessment battery developed specifically for pilot recruitment, is now available to airlines, approved training organisations and flight schools worldwide.
Unlike general psychometric tools adapted for aviation use, AerometricX has been purpose-built around the competencies and characteristics relevant to professional pilots, combining aviation psychology, operational pilot-recruitment expertise and psychometric science.
The test battery comprises 11 dimensions - including spatial reasoning, airplane attitude awareness, memory capacity, reaction speed, multitasking and aviation-relevant personality traits - and is designed to support organisations in meeting the requirements of EASA CAT.GEN.MPA.175(b). The new psychometric test battery provides structured, validated assessment across four defined domains: cognitive abilities, personality traits, operational and professional competences, and social and CRM competences. " The test was designed to identify the characteristics and competencies that an effective pilot profile should have for safe and effective flight operations.," said Alejandro Salinas, Head of Pilot Recruitment at AAP Aviation.
The test has been developed in a practical format that can be administered by trained recruiters without specialist certification, supported by an evaluation and interpretation framework developed by a specialized aviation psychologist. Results are standardized and comparable, so every candidate is assessed on the same fair basis. “That combination is what we set out to build,” said Salinas.
SIAP continuously monitors the administration and results to ensure ongoing quality and consistency.

Assessments are delivered through a secure web-based platform. Tailored batteries are available for three different pilot profiles: Captain and Type Rating Examiner or Instructor (TRE/TRI), First Officer, and Cadet. Each profile applies the components most relevant to the role and level of experience.
